The School that Eats Them All?

People looked really worried to the education center plan that had been decided in General Assembly of GKJW in Tempursari. It has been two years, and many accusation toward that plan is still nonstop emerging like laron in foggy morning of weight rainy season. They who appears apathetic and pessimist toward it consider more in the difficulties more that the benefits and opportunity.

“We have many YBPK’s school that are not managed well, why should we hatch a gigantic unrealistic Rp 50 billion project for only one high school?” “Why must we use consultant from outside of GKJW, it costs too much than we used ours?” “Who will built that sophisticated school that will eat all schools of YBPK that now is dying neglected?” Many more sour and bitter questions, even imputations, direct to education center of GKJW. It’s not wrong, since we saw the dark decade of YBPK’s school in 1990s until 2000s. Many school of GKJW is closed by Indonesia’s government for they cannot stand the competition of education. The harsh and black image overshadowed to YBPK’s school since then. But is it the right reasons to stop the plan of education center building?

Yes, YBPK, the Department of Christian Education of GKJW, had ever been in melodramatic stage of his life. Many vinegary episodes covers its past glory. Government left GKJW by their policy, religion reason was spread so people chose to school their children in public school or Islamic school. And the most trenchancy was how many member of GKJW, even its reverends didn’t want to see YBPK’s school as window of opportunity and break. But in this last decade, YBPK really try their best to solve that problem. YBPK try to give their best, started from maintenance of notary deed, give thanks sermons for YBPK, visitations, seminars, building of new play groups, kindergartens, and vocational schools, until the readiness of YBPK’s center committee to be the place and mode of consultation for YBPK’s school around East Java.

Why people tend to see the dark sides more than the brighter one? Why is untrusted celebrated more crowded than the efforts? Maybe they need evidences. But it is not fair if they don’t want to be part of the evidences, and just sit and pointing their finger to the past failures. Even the past is fiasco, but there is always chance to change it to be better and more delightful, if people start to take their precious part to their own belonging, YBPK’s school.

The building of the education center that right now well known as Tunggul Wulung high school is one of the attempt of YBPK to back to its nature, which is none other than build a school with professional management, based on Christianity and Javanese root. To be professional means that GKJW need to expend some funds to its financing. That’s why it is appeared as big in the beginning. But if it is succeeding, it will bring other YBPK’s school up. It will be model for other school, in management, development, methods, and many more. Why we have to build a new school, it is no more than build a new image, no more.

So, maybe it is time to stop complaining, blaming, and even more blaspheming. It is time to join and take part. With this kind of realization, that education center will not be school that eats them all, instead of feeds them all.
