No Place Like Home, But Here

In 2007 or 2008 I introduced that phrase to my campus' PR. At first he, Pak Budi, didn't believe me that it is good phrase in English, until he asked some of my friends to go to our English Couching Division. And finally he agreed to use that phrase as our campus motto during new students's admission that years. Last time I went to campus, I still found that phrase posted in one of our campus' entrance, even in brochure.

Why I chose that phrase? Coz I know, there is no place as comfortable as home, where we can accepted as we are. No denial in home, every member of our family take us as we are. We feel secure, safe, and sound. The main place which equality is really taken for granted is home. Home and house is always different in many ways, house is just a place, but home is sense and all the warmth. That why I suggested that phrase to our campus' PR.

Somehow, I think it is also applied for church. Church is never just a place we pray and serve. But church is community, it is not just a crowd gathered in one. The living church is church that makes us feel homey. I think it is not just me that is thinking like that, I bet.

Speaking about Indonesia's crisis I have to admit that our main crisis is not political, economical, even ideological (what I mean about ideology is when we are talking about constitution, law, and Pancasila). It is about trust. We have crisis of trust. There is kinda disbelief one toward another. Resistance is all around. That crisis leads us to many phenomena as we see today.

I'm always thinking, it is impossible to make a big change if we don't start it from our closest community. For me church is one of my closest community, I think all Christian do feel the same. If we can build our church as our second home, it can be a big leap toward our bigger community, society even country. So why not? Let's making our church as our second home, where all people accepted in true love, taken with organic caring, walk together as one. It is time to campaign, "No place like home, but here. In our church!" No more religion labels, no more citizenship labels, just us as human being, fragile and flaw but accepted and respected.
