As I remembered, he never tried to look cool. He never tried to do something spectacular so people will see him as the great. He just smiles and gives his appreciation toward the others, even if it is something usual, the real usual. For the first few times, I thought he just try to encourage people, as many people do. Something that I used to think: what for? And after I try harder to know how he's thinking, of course I dont know all about him, I finally see, he look beyond the wall.
If you know him for the first time, maybe you won't get huge impression. He's just old man, like the others in his age. You won't give him standing applause for what he done. Many people do it, and as your life as fake as everything your thoughts, you won't give him your next attention.
But maybe you'll choose another way, the way of following. Following him all around, without he knows you're all around. As Javanese people always said, that in this maritime way of life, studying isn't something you got only from ordinary school with teachers talk too much about their stuff. But by following him and track him for some of his foot steps, tease his traces, do his still as the still, do his move as the move; you suddenly realize, he's just simply beyond compare. It was just clouded by all continental way of life that you had been thinking as the best way of life. And you just certeanly know, you got wrong all the time.
He lets his things down under his family's, his wife's, his kids'. He didn't talk too much, but everytime he speaks, you got calming down. The world just becomes a garden full of rose and ferns. Painted with so many color as possible. The sky is blue, and few seaguls just flying around upon your hair, that is fluttering in the wind. Just like in heaven. And all his words are sincere, as sincerely yours in the end of your letters, but it is sincerer.
He is a fighter without sword or machete. And you just know after all of the long long time you live, don't you think he just approach the tend of The Almighty faster than any other people? And you all actually know that you walk to that kinda place, which he'd been there for a long long time. It is what we called purpose.
He is Mr. Agung Siswanto. The reverend. One of many good people that don't wanna be seen by many other people. As James Thurber said, “Beautiful things don't ask for attention.” So he is. I don't know, but when the first time I heard that phrase, I don't think about snow leopard or dew of sahara, but him. And his family.
